FBI Investigating Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno For Stealing Public Funds For Lavish Lifestyle, Jewelry And Cars
Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno who is under investigation by the FBI for a series of allegations involving money laundering, ghost employees misappropriation of funds, and accepting expensive gifts from Ken Romano, who claims to have paid off Marceno’s gambling debts and provided other costly items;
“It’s past time for Governor Ron DeSantis to remove Sheriff Marceno from office who is under investigation for many financial crimes and abuses of his office. DeSantis has power to remove Politicians from Office. Mick Peters, Lee County Republican State Committee Man.
According to a report by NBC2, the Sheriff spent over $600,000 a year on consultants, which adds up to more than $1 million over two years.
Some of these contracts included payments for a personal trainer for deputies, a dog named Otto von Schnell who serves as a county mascot, and various other consultants

Surveillance video shows Sheriff Marceno accepting a large stack of cash from Romano inside his jewelry store, with no clear explanation provided for the transaction:
The contract for former honorary deputy and consultant Ken Romano shows he was paid $5,700 a month and he claims he was ordered to give back $1,700 to the Sheriff’s father to help pay for a car.

State ethics laws require elected officials to disclose all gifts valued at $100 or more and Sheriff Marceno failed to disclose the piano or any other gifts in his financial disclosure forms. In the Financial Disclosure forms Marceno acknowledges $200,000 of gambling winnings.

Carmine Marceno has not itemized his property or properties on the forms despite instructions saying to do so.
“The day (the sheriff) bought his Ferrari, was the same day that he turned around to me and said, ‘listen, bro, I want to do something nice for my father,’” Romano said.
He wanted to get his father a “nice ride to drive back and forth from the West to East coasts of Florida for kidney treatments,” Romano said. He added that Marceno found an S-Class for $119,000 at Mercedes-Benz of Bonita Springs, and subsequently told an under sheriff to give Romano a pay raise to the exact amount of the monthly car payments plus insurance: $1,700.
Marceno would not take responsibility for their child.
